N100 Excavator as a Crane (Lifting Ops) – NPORS Accredited

Overview

The N100 Excavator as a Crane NPORS certification provides thorough training for individuals looking to operate excavators as cranes, with a focus on safe and efficient operation. This course equips participants with essential industry knowledge, an understanding of potential hazards, and clear operator responsibilities.

Combining both theoretical instruction and practical exercises, the course ensures that delegates can confidently and safely operate excavators in crane mode. Participants will learn key manufacturer guidelines, general best practices, and safe operating procedures. Hands-on training covers the identification and use of critical machine components, including steering, driving, and braking controls. Operators will also learn how to configure the excavator for travel, maneuver across various terrains, and ensure the machine is safely prepared for attachments. In addition to mastering practical skills, participants will become proficient in safety regulations and standards, preparing them for the NPORS Theory and Practical assessments conducted at the end of the course.

This course is fully accredited by NPORS and adheres to national standards and industry best practices, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Course Objectives

  • Identify and explain different lifting procedures and know what task could fall into which category
  • Recognise and understand centres of gravity and calculate estimated load weights
  • Be aware of and work around any overhead proximity and hazards
  • Understand how to agree on the signal codes and hand signals, the direction of movement, safe working and landing, and placement zones with the Slinger Signaller
  • Know how to ensure the Excavator is in a safe condition to fit attachments
